I arrived at this family's home on a sunny afternoon for their portrait session. Mom and Dad were eager to capture memories with their three kids, though the girls' self-inflicted haircuts earlier in the week had almost led to a cancellation. Mom grabbed the girls' favorite storybooks to read to them while they snuggled close on the couch, their unevenly chopped locks falling every which way. I'm sure the impromptu haircuts caused some initial panic for Mom, but here's the thing - those unscripted moments are the essence of parenthood. And I'm glad she leaned into life's unexpected curveballs to find the joy in the little chaotic scenes that unfolded.
